Bridal hair vine DIY
Today a DIY idea for all brides to be! This easy and surprisingly quick tutorial gives you step by step instructions on how to create a beautiful, dreamy hair vine for your special day.
- approx. 30 x 4mm glass pearls
- approx. 60 x size 12 (1.8mm seed beads)
- approx. 11 x 3.6mm glass seed beads
- 1.8m of 28 gauge silver wire (this is to create a roughly 38 cm long hair vine)
- wire cutters
To start cut 1.8 metres of wire off your reel. With the help of a pen form a loop at the half way mark. Twist the pen and at the same time hold the two ends of wire close to the pen with your thumb and index finger. Twist until you have an approx. 0.5mm twisted section which is the start of your base wire.
Now you can add your first beads. Thread three of the small 1.8 mm seed beads on either side of the wire.
Once the beads are on make sure all beads sit evenly and straight. Start twisting the wires by holding the 3 beads in one hand and the two wire strings in the other. Whilst twisting make sure you keep your thumb and index finger close to the twisted section and slowly move down as you continue to twist. For me it worked best to twist the beaded side whilst firmly holding the two wire ends. Twist to form another 0.5mm twisted base wire section.
As a next step thread one of the 3.6mm glass seed pearls onto one of the wire ends only.
Twist the wire to form another 0.5mm of twisted base wire. Then thread 1 of the glass pearls to only 1 of the wire ends. Form a bend approx. 1cm from the base wire. Place the pearl in the bend.
Twist the pearl to form your first vine off the base wire.
Add another glass pearl to the same wire you added the last pearl to. Repeat the steps above (form a bend, place pearl in bend and twist).
Then add one last glass pearl to the same wire as before and repeat the previously mentioned steps. You will end up with three pearl vines sticking out from the base wire.
To secure the 3 pearls twist all three of them around 2-3 times. Continue by twisting 0.5mm of base wire. Now you can continue on until you have used up all your beads or the vine is the desired length.
Lastly you want to finish off with a loop on the other end too. Once again use a pen and bend the two end wires over the pen.
Twist the pen and hold the wire ends close to the base wire to intertwine. Cut off the ends and make sure they don't stick out but are nicely twisted in with the base wire.
